Coco Vandeweghe vs. Madison Keys 2017 Stanford Classic Final Pick, Odds, Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Madison Keys is coming off a straight sets win over Garbine Muguruza that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Keys won 74 percent of her first serve points and 44 percent of her second serve points. Keys has dropped just 12 games in her last two matches combined and is coming off a match in which she won 53 percent of her return points. Keys is only in her eighth tournament since returning from wrist surgery, and is now in her first final appearance in over a year. This is a nice confidence boosting tournament for the young Keys, especially with the US Open right around the corner. Keys looks for her third career title and first since the 2016 Birmingham Classic. Keys is 0-1 in final appearances on hard court. Keys has won six of her last eight matches on hard court.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

Stanford couldn’t have gotten a better final, as these are two talented Americans with power, power and more power. It simply comes down to who can control their power and limit their enforced errors. And while Keys is coming off a monster win and her biggest victory in awhile, Vandeweghe is in over better form and has been playing more consistent and successful tennis overall. I’m not buying into Keys return this quickly just yet.

I give the edge to Vandeweghe in three sets.
