USA TODAY Sports

Roger Federer is coming off a straight sets win over Jeremy Chardy that took 21 games to decide. In the victory, Federer won 100 percent of his first serve points and 79 percent of his second serve points. Federer had to really work in his fourth round match, but once again, he played clean, served well and pounced the second his opponent created the slightest opening. Federer is forcing his opponent to play perfect in order to have a chance to win, as he doesn’t give away anything at either end. It’s the same old same old from what we’ve seen from Federer the last two years or so. Federer has has won 13 of his last 14 quarterfinal appearances. Federer has won 15 straight matches on hard court.

These two have played once, which was in this years Australian Open, a match Federer won in two sets before Chung retired due to injury. The match lasted only 14 games.

Chung is one of the best young players in the world, the future of tennis and has shown flashes this year that he has the ability to beat anybody when he’s really on. The problem is Federer doesn’t care how well you’re playing, as he simply finds ways to win regardless and has been impossible to bet against for the last two years. Chung is worth a look whenever you can get him at plus money, as the kid is the real deal. But against Federer? I’ll pass.

Federer makes his 11th career semifinal appearance at Indian Wells.
