Van Uytvanck vs. Wozniacki
The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Caroline Wozniacki and Alison Van Uytvanck meet in the second round of the 2018 tennis Rome Masters.
Caroline Wozniacki is coming off a third round loss in the Madrid Masters and is 10-6 since the biggest win of her life in the Australian Open. Wozniacki is coming off a match in which she won just 48 percent of her total service points and was broken five times. Even in some of her recent victories, Wozniacki isn’t exactly scaring anybody with her serve, and she’s been broken quite a bit. Of course, it only takes a couple of complete performances for Wozniacki to get her confidence back and maybe she’s still trying to refocus after winning such a big title that changed the outlook of her career. We’ve seen it happen with other players, as they struggle for long stretches after winning such a huge tournament. This is Wozniacki’s first Rome Masters appearance since 2015. Wozniacki has won eight of her last 11 matches on clay court.

Alison Van Uytvanck is coming off a three sets win over Samantha Stosur that took 30 games to decide. In the victory, Van Uytvanck won 75 percent of her first serve points and 64 percent of her second serve points. Van Uytvanck managed to come back from dropping the first set, as she won 72 percent of her total service points and gave herself eight break chances. Van Uytvanck has had issues with her serve as of late, but she’s coming off a match in which she wasn’t broken once. If Van Uytvanck can get so many free points with her serve and put pressure on her opponent, she’s going to be a tough out in this tournament. Van Uytvanck hasn’t won four matches in a single tournament since winning the Hungarian Ladies Open earlier this year. Van Uytvanck has split his last eight matches on clay court.
This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.
Van Uytvanck is coming off an impressive performance and will be tough to beat if she can continue to serve the way she did in her last match. The problem is Van Uytvanck has been very inconsistent this season and has played a lot of matches just to get to this point, as she has nine sets under her belt this tournament. Wozniacki is rested and should be eager to find her form with the French Open around the corner.
I’ll side with Wozniacki to get back on track.
