TV: Tennis, NBC

Alexander Zverev and Dusan Lajovic meet in the second round of the 2018 tennis French Open.

Alexander Zverev is coming off a straight sets win over Ričardas Berankis that took 22 games to decide. In the victory, Zverev won 87 percent of his first serve points and 81 percent of his second serve points. Zverev continues to serve out of his mind on clay court and is coming off a match in which he won 85 percent of his total service points and didn’t face a single break point. Zverev will be a threat to make a run for his first grand slam title if he can continue to serve at this level while keeping his unforced errors under 20. The problem is Zverev has yet to even make the quarters of a grand slam, so there’s still reason for doubt. Zverev hopes to make the third round of a grand slam for the sixth time in his last nine appearances. Zverev has won 10 of his last 11 matches on clay court.

Alexander Zverev vs. Dusan Lajovic 2018 French Open Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Dusan Lajovic is coming off a straight sets win over Jiří Veselý that took 25 games to decide. In the victory, Lajovic won 86 percent of his first serve points and 62 percent of his second serve points. Lajovic was able to win his first round match rather easily despite getting just 45 percent of his first serves in play. Lajovic has been rather impressive on clay this season overall and has been able to keep his unforced error numbers down. However, Lajovic must be much better with his first serve if he has any chance of even making this match competitive. Lajovic has one career win over a top-10 player, which came against Juan Martín del Potro in Madrid this year. Lajovic hopes to make the third round of a grand slam for the first time since the 2014 French Open. Lajovic has won 10 of his last 13 matches on clay court.

This will be the first meeting between these two players.

Lajovic has been playing well on clay, but his level of competition hasn’t been the greatest, and he has zero grand slam success, as he’s reached the third round just once in his career. The only player in the world in better form than Zverev currently is Nadal. Don’t bet against Zverev until he meets the Spaniard.

Zverev rolls yet again.
