Agnieszka Radwanska and Petra Kvitova meet in the second round of the 2018 tennis Eastbourne International.

Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a three sets win over Daria Gavrilova that took 31 games to decide. In the victory, Radwanska won 64 percent of her first serve points and 57 percent of her second serve points. Radwanska won 62 percent of her total service points and gave herself 21 break chances. Radwanska probably should have won that match in straight sets, but I’m sure she’ll take the victory given her hit or miss results this season. Radwanska has really had trouble sinking her teeth into this season and hasn’t really made a deep tournament run since last years Wimbledon. Maybe this is the tournament that helps her snap out of that funk. Radwanska has won five of her last six matches on grass court.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Petra Kvitova is coming off a straight sets win over Kateryna Bondarenko that took 21 games to decide. In the victory, Kvitova won 80 percent of her first serve points and 50 percent of her second serve points. Kvitova won 70 percent of her total service points despite having five double faults. If Kvitova is going to serve like that, she’s a legit threat to not only win this tournament but also make a deep run in the upcoming Wimbledon. Kvitova has been one of the more consistent players of the season the last few months and I’m sure being fresh off the Birmingham Classic title only helps her confidence. Kvitova is a dangerous player right now. Kvitova has won six straight matches on grass court.

These two have played 12 times and Kvitova has won seven of those matches. The most recent match was in Doha of this year, a match Kvitova won in three sets. Radwanska has won four of the last six matches against Kvitova.

I’m itching for Radwanska to snap out of this funk and return to being a top-10 caliber player, but we haven’t seen enough to suggest that’s going to happen. Few players are playing better than Kvitova right now, and you’d be a fool to step in front of her. She’s playing too well at the moment.

Kvitova reaches the quarterfinals.
