The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Caroline Wozniacki and Johanna Konta meet in the third round of the 2018 tennis Eastbourne International.
Caroline Wozniacki is coming off a straight sets win over Camila Giorgi that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Wozniacki won 65 percent of her first serve points and 56 percent of her second serve points. Wozniacki is coming off a match in which she won 53 percent of her return points and broke six times. Wozniacki has been a bit hot and cold since winning her first grand slam, but when she plays well and to her potential, she’s been able to bury her opponent without much effort. As long as Wozniacki is returning well and playing quality defense, she’s going to be a tough out regardless of who or where she plays. Wozniacki has won eight of her last 10 matches on grass court.

Johanna Konta is coming off a straight sets win over Aleksandra Krunic that took 16 games to decide. In the victory, Konta won 79 percent of her first serve points and 75 percent of her second serve points. Konta managed to win 78 percent of her total service points and saved both of her break chances. Konta has had a really sluggish season, but she managed to turn it around when reaching the Nottingham Open final and is easily playing her best tennis of the year on grass. As long as Konta is serving as well as she did in her opening match, she’s in great hands. Konta has a chance to make her second quarterfinal appearance of the season. Konta has won five of her last seven matches on grass court.
These two have played twice and Konta has won both meetings. The most recent match was in the 2017 Miami Masters, a match Konta won in straight sets. The other match was in the 2017 Australian Open, a match Konta also won in straight sets.
Konta is playing well at the moment and is 4-0 against Wozniacki in sets played. However, those previous matches were on hard court, and while that usually favors Wozniacki with the pace, grass has been kind to her as well recently and allows her more time to catch up to balls and play that high level defense. Konta will have to win a ton of long rallies and hit winners if she’s going to win this match. She hasn’t been consistent enough to think she can do it.
Wozniacki makes the quarters.
