Mischa Zverev vs. Mikhail Kukushkin 2018 Eastbourne Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Mikhail Kukushkin is coming off a three sets win over Kyle Edmund that took 28 games to decide. In the victory, Kukushkin won 68 percent of his first serve points and 52 percent of his second serve points. Kukushkin showed great heart by coming back after dropping the first set and managed to win 42 percent of his return points while producing five breaks on nine chances. Kukushkin has now beaten back-to-back top-50 players to get to this point, easily his best showing on the ATP tour this year. Kukushkin has really struggled on the big stage, but this has a chance to kind of turn things around if he can win two more matches. It’s been a while since Kukushkin has strung together winning performances and made a run in a respectable tournament. Kukushkin has a chance to make his fourth career final and first since the 2015 Apia International Sydney. Kukushkin has won four of his last six matches on grass court.

These two have played five times and Zverev has won three of those meetings. The most recent match was in this years Indian Wells Masters, a match Zverev won in three sets.

Kukushkin burned me yesterday against Edmund and Ferrer, so I should probably hop on the bandwagon. But I’m not. Zverev has been much more consistent not only this year, but in this tournament overall, and when he’s serving well, he should have no trouble in a match like this. Despite winning three matches, Kukushkin has been awful to say the least in the grand scheme of things and hasn’t made a final in three years for a reason.

Zverev makes the final.
