Roger Federer and Lukas Lacko meet in the second round of the 2018 tennis Wimbledon.

Roger Federer is coming off a straight sets win over Dusan Lajovic that took 26 games to decide. In the victory, Federer won 91 percent of his first serve points and 61 percent of his second serve points. Federer won 82 percent of his total service points and didn’t come close to being broken in his first round victory. With just 16 unforced errors and getting 71 percent of his first serves in play, you couldn’t have asked for a better performance from the eight-time Wimbledon champion. Federer is dialed in at the moment and seems ready to defend his Wimbledon title from a year ago. Federer hasn’t lost before the third round of a grand slam since the 2013 Wimbledon. Federer has won nine of his last 10 matches on grass court.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Lukas Lacko is coming off a four sets win over Benjamin Bonzi that took 42 games to decide. In the victory, Lacko won 73 percent of his first serve points and 53 percent of his second serve points. Lacko bounced back after dropping the first set, as he won 67 percent of his total service points and produced five breaks. Lacko is playing some of the best tennis we’ve seen from him recently, as he’s fresh off making the final of the Eastbourne International and has now won seven of his last nine matches. Lacko has very little grand slam success, but his current form suggests he’s not going to be your typical routine second round opponent for a top ranked player. Lacko has some confidence in his game right now and is going to be a threat as long as he can stay in this form. Lacko hopes to make the third round of a grand slam for the third time since 2013. Lacko has won seven of his last nine matches on grass court.

These two have played twice and Federer has won both meetings in straight sets. The matches took place in the 2014 French Open and 2011 Australian Open.

Lacko is playing well right now, so it may be worth looking at the spread for this match. He’s not going to go down quietly. However, in terms of winning, betting against Federer isn’t an option. Federer has pretty much dominated every match he’s played over the last two years and looked so comfortable in his last victory. Lacko may be playing well, but he has zero grand slam success and none of the players he’s played recently come close to the level of Federer.

Federer wins in straight sets, but the match is a bit more competitive than people think.
