The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Darya Kasatkina and Ashleigh Barty meet in the third round of the 2018 tennis Wimbledon.
Darya Kasatkina is coming off a straight sets win over Yulia Putintseva that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Kasatkina won 63 percent of her first serve points and 72 percent of her second serve points. Kasatkina won 55 percent of her return points and converted on six of her eight break chances. The serve must improve if Kasatkina is going to make an even deeper run this tournament, but she has yet to drop a set and has produced 14 breaks in her first two matches. The return so far is the one thing that’s helped Kasatkina make her matches rather effortless up to this point, but her service percentages need to increase as the competition picks up. Kasatkina has a chance to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the third time in her career. Kasatkina has never made the fourth round of the Wimbledon. Kasatkina has won five of her last seven matches on grass court.

Ashleigh Barty is coming off a straight sets win over Eugenie Bouchard that took 22 games to decide. In the victory, Barty won 83 percent of her first serve points and 41 percent of her second serve points. Barty won 65 percent of her total service points and saved five of her six break chances. Barty has won both of her matches in straight sets and has combined for 60 winners in those performances. Barty is one of the more impressive young players when she’s hitting her spots with confidence, as she has great pace on her shots that can overwhelm her opponent. Barty hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time in her career. Barty never won a match in Wimbledon before this year. Barty has won six of her last eight matches on grass court.
There’s no previous matches between these two players.
Kasatkina has obvious more experience and success on the big stage, but Barty is one of those players who can beat anybody when she’s hitting her spots and palying with confidence, something we’ve seen from her two matches in. Kasatkina hasn’t served extremely well in this tournament and Barty has the power return that can eat those second serves alive. This is a spot where the Australian can kind of have her breakthrough grand slam tournament.
I’m going to back Barty to win this match.
