TV: ESPN

Roger Federer and Adrian Mannarino meet in the fourth round of the 2018 tennis Wimbledon.

Roger Federer is coming off a straight sets win over Jan-Lennard Struff that took 29 games to decide. In the victory, Federer won 93 percent of his first serve points and 68 percent of his second serve points. Federer dropped just three of 40 first serve points in his third round victory and had just eight unforced errors. I’ve said it in previous articles, if Federer is going to be that flawless with his serve while not beating himself at all, you can hand him the trophy right now. Federer is playing as clean and effective as you can ask of any player in this tournament. Federer hopes to machete quarterfinals of a grand slam for a 10th straight appearance. Federer has been bounced before the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon just once since 2003. Federer has won 10 of his last 11 matches on grass court.

Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Adrian Mannarino is coming off a five sets win over Daniil Medvedev that took 50 games to decide. In the victory, Mannarino won 69 percent of his first serve points and 47 percent of his second serve points. Mannarino won 62 percent of his total service points and converted on nine of his 14 break points. Mannarino had to play five sets despite getting off to a 2-0 set lead, but he’ll take the victory considering it’s his third ever fourth round appearance in a grand slam. Of course, Mannarino will have to be much more effective with his second serve if he hopes to advance any further in this tournament. Mannarino has four career wins over top-10 players with three of those wins coming last year. Mannarino has a chance to make his first ever grand slam quarterfinal appearance. Mannarino has won six of his last seven matches on grass court.

These two have played five times and Federer has won all five matches. The most recent meeting was in Basel of 2017, a match Federer won in three sets. Federer is 12-1 against in terms of sets.

Betting against Federer in his current form simply isn’t an option, and that’s really all you need to know when going into his matches. The guy isn’t coming close to dropping a set, let alone a match, and he’s not losing first serve points at all. Mannarino isn’t capable of matching this level of play on his best day.

Federer makes another quarterfinal appearance in the Wimbledon.
