Vesely has a chance to make his first ever grand slam quarterfinal appearance. Vesely has two career wins over top-10 players, both coming in 2016. These two have played once, which was in Hamburg of 2015, a match Nadal won in straight sets. The match took 23 games to be decided.
We know the deal with Nadal and other top players, they rarely lose in grand slams against inexperienced or lesser players. Unless there’s an injury, guys like Nadal, Djokovic and others usually crush guys on the big stage who aren’t used to being there in the first place. Vesely will have a hard time winning a set here.
Nadal makes his first Wimbledon quarterfinal in seven years.
