Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev meet in the semifinals of the 2018 tennis Citi Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is coming off a straight sets win over David Goffin that took 19 games to decide. In the victory, Tsitsipas won 86 percent of his first serve points and 48 percent of his second serve points. Tsitsipas won 71 percent of his total service points and saved all three of his break points. Tsitsipas has yet to be broken in his last four sets and has dropped just nine combined first serve points during that span as well. As long as Tsitsipas can serve the way he’s been serving recently, he has a shot to push for a title here. Tsitsipas has a chance to reach his second career final appearance and first since this years Barcelona Open. Tsitsipas has won five of his last eight matches on hard court.

Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Alexander Zverev is coming off a three sets win over Kei Nishikori that took 26 games to decide. In the victory, Zverev won 78 percent of his first serve points and 60 percent of his second serve points. Zverev won 73 percent of his total service points and got 75 percent of his first serves in play. The one thing that allowed Zverev to go on such a tear earlier in the year was his elite serving, so if he’s going to keep hitting his spots like this, he has to be considered the favorite to win this tournament. Zverev has combined for 13 aces in his last two matches and has been lights out with his first serve. Tough to bet against Zverev in his current form. Zverev has a chance to make his fifth final appearance of the year and his 14th final appearance of his career. Zverev has won eight of his last nine matches on hard court.

There’s no previous matches between these two players.

Tsitsipas has been playing well in this tournament and hasn’t given his opponents much of a chance to break. However, when Zverev is hitting his spots the way he is right now, you can count on one hand how many players who can beat him. When Zverev is serving the way he’s capable of, he’s one of the best players on the planet.

Zverev makes his fifth final appearance of the year.
