The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The round of 32 of the WTA Rogers Cup event in Montreal will see the entry of world number 1, Simona Halep. The Romanian superstar got a bye for the opening round due to her seeding and will now play to earn a spot in the last 16. The current French Open champion will take on world number 28, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, from Russia. Both players will be very determined to do well in this match so we should expect a great tennis match.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won her opening round match with ease as she beat American player, Christina McHale, in straight sets. The Russian has improved significantly over the past few years and since 2017 she has won 4 ATP titles. This is very impressive and it shows the quality of the player. Grand Slam events have always been a weakness for Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova as she has never accomplished anything significant and with the US Open only weeks away, I am sure that the Russian will be keen to keep up her winning ways so she is in good form at Flushing Meadows.

On the other side of the court, Simona Halep will know that she is the favorite to win this match. The Romanian will know that Serena Williams had to withdraw from this tournament and that means that she should not face any tough opponent. Simona Halep is an exceptional player and has shown that all through her career and with the US Open coming up, she also would like to get some form under her belt. It seems that Simona Halep is at the peak of her powers and I would expect that means she will be very hard to beat.
While Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has shown some great form, I don’t think she will be good enough to beat Simona Halep. The world number 1 has been playing some incredible tennis and I expect her to win this match with some ease.
