Alexander Zverev and Robin Haase meet in the second round of the tennis Cincinnati Open.

Alexander Zverev is coming off a quarterfinal trip in Toronto and has been putting together some nice tournament runs despite some recent hiccups. Zverev has been  serving machine in his victories and is damn near unbeatable when he’s getting 60 percent of his first serves in play. Other times this season, Zverev has looked a little tired and allows unforced errors to takeover his game. Some people seem to forget that Zverev is just 21 years old, and this is the first year where he’s consistently making deep run after deep run. Still, the consistency has forced us to peg Zverev as a favorite to win any tournament he’s involved in. Zverev has won seven of his last eight matches on hard court.

Alexander Zverev vs. Robin Haase 2018 Cincinnati Open Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Robin Haase is coming off a three sets win over Filip Krajinovic that took 27 games to decide. In the victory, Haase won 73 percent of his first serve points and 39 percent of his second serve points. Haase won 59 percent of his total service points and produced six breaks on 12 break points. As long as Haase can clean up the unforced errors, which includes six double faults, he’ll give him a chance to be competitive here. Haase looks to win at least two matches in a single tournament for the third time in his last 13 trips. Haase has six career wins over top-10 players, with two of those wins coming last year. Haase has won four of his last five matches on hard court.

These two have played three times and Zverev won two of those matches. The most recent meeting was in France in 2017, a match Hasse won in three sets.

Haase has had a hard time putting together back-to-back winning preferences, and he’s playing a guy in Zverev who has put himself in the elite class already at such a young age. Picking against Zverev against a lesser opponent these days doesn’t work. Zverev is playing quality tennis and is rested.

Zverev rolls in straight sets.
