Milos Raonic and Malek Jaziri meet in the second round of the tennis Cincinnati Open.
Milos Raonic is coming off a straight sets win over Dusan Lajovic that took 18 games to decide. In the victory, Raonic won 95 percent of his first serve points and 90 percent of his second serve points. Raonic won 92 percent of his total service points, which included losing just one of 19 first serve points. If Raonic is going to serve like that the rest of the tournament, he’s probably going to win his first ever ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title. Raonic came into this tournament a little shaky and had an early exit in his home tournament in Toronto, so maybe he’s a little more focused than he’s been recently. It will be interesting to see if Raonic can repeat that level of play for another match. Raonic has won five of his last seven matches on hard court.

Malek Jaziri went from not qualifying for this tournament to replacing Rafael Nadal and getting a shot at one of the bigger wins of his season. Jaziri is simply not playing good tennis right now, as he’s lost five of his last seven matches and hasn’t played a non-qualifying match since Washington. Jaziri has lost seven of his last 11 sets played overall and has been getting nothing on his serve. The good news is that Jaziri does have two wins over top-10 players this season, so he has shown flashes of high level tennis at times. Unfortunately, those wins were much earlier in the year, and he’s not playing anywhere close to that level at the moment. Jaziri has lost four of his last six matches on hard court.
These two have played once, which was in the 2016 Beijing Open, a match Raonic won in straight sets. The match took 19 games to be decided.
You can’t make a serious case for Jaziri in his current form, even if he has a rest advantage here. Raonic, especially with the way we just saw him serve, will walk all over his opponent in this match.
Raonic cruises in straight sets.
