The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Nikoloz Basilashvili from Georgia and Guido Pella from Argentina will meet for the first time at Flushing Meadows as they play each other in the third round of the 2018 ATP US Open. This is a great chance for both players to make a deep run in the tournament since they have both gotten relatively easy draws. The should mean that both players are greatly motivated and will produce their best tennis for this match.
Nikoloz Basilashvili has had to fight hard all tournament. The Georgian player won his first match in 5 sets and then followed that by beating Jack Sock in 4 sets in the second round. Playing 9 sets in the opening two rounds is not an easy task and considering the hot weather, it will be hard for Nikoloz Basilashvili to avoid any fatigue. Nikoloz Basilashvili entered this tournament in good form having won the ATP German Open a few months ago. That victory would have given his great confidence and he seems to be using it in this event.

Looking at Nikoloz Basilashvili’s opponent, Guido Pella. The Argentine has looked very good in this tournament as he won both of his matches in straight sets. Many thought that Pella might struggle in the first round when he drew the talented Casper Ruud but he silenced all his critics by winning with ease. This is not expected to be an easy match for Guido Pella as he is playing Nikoloz Basilashvili who is in great form. That being said, Pella is a very accomplished player and will expect to win this match.
This should be a close match which could easily go 4 or 5 sets. Both players will fight hard and should compete well. As far as the winner is concerned, I am going to pick Guido Pella to win. The Argentine is the better player and I think he will handle the occasion better than Nikoloz Basilashvili.
