Vondrousova has to be better with her serve and clean up the unforced errors, but the 19-year-old is gaining valuable big tournament experience and has to be happy with where she’s at overall. Vondrousova has a chance to win three matches in a single tournament for the second time in her last four tries. Vondrousova hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time in her career. Vondrousova has split her last four matches on hard court.
There’s no previous matches between these two players.
Around this time in grand slams is where the tiers start to separate themselves and the surprises get bounced. Vondrousova has gained much needed big tournament experience, but she’s not serving well enough to beat a top-20 player and those hiccups in her game will be much more costly. Not to mention Bertens is the hottest player on tour right now with eight straight wins and has been serving at a very high level.
Bertens cruises in straight sets.
