TV: ESPN

Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka meet in the fourth round of the 2018 tennis US Open.

Naomi Osaka is coming off a straight sets win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich that took 12 games to decide. In the victory, Osaka won 78 percent of her first serve points and 71 percent of her second serve points. Osaka played as flawless of a match as one can play, as she won 74 percent of her total service points and 76 percent of her return points, not dropping a single game. With the double bagel, Osaka has now won each of her last 22 games played. The 20-year-old Osaka has to be as confident as she’s ever been in a grand slam tournament, which is key considering she has a history of falling apart mentally when things aren’t going well. Osaka has a chance to make her first ever grand slam quarterfinal appearance. Osaka is 0-1 in her career in grand slam fourth round matches, which came in this years Australian Open. Osaka has split her last six matches on hard court.

Naomi Osaka vs. Aryna Sabalenka 2018 US Open Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Aryna Sabalenka is coming off a straight sets win over Petra Kvitova that took 19 games to decide. In the victory, Sabalenka won 80 percent of her first serve points and 52 percent of her second serve points. Sabalenka won 69 percent of her total service points and 55 percent of her return points, which gives her a sixth win this year over a top-10 player. Sabalenka is probably the hottest player on the women’s side, as she’s now won 14 of her last 16 matches and 13 of her last 14 sets. At just 20 years old, this is easily the best we’ve seen from the young Sabalenka, and she’s becoming a player I have a hard time betting against these days. I said back in Cincinnati Sabalenka is player to watch closely, and her performances seem to be only getting better. Sabalenka has a chance to make her first ever grand slam quarterfinal appearance. Sabalenka has won eight straight matches on hard court.

There’s no previous matches between these two players.

Those who have followed me over the years know I’ve been high on Osaka from the beginning and even predicted she’d win a major in the next couple of years. I back Osaka whenever I can, and it doesn’t get much better than winning 22 straight games. However, Sabalenka has been playing at a ridiculous level for the last couple of months and shows no signs of slowing down. Her serve, return and shotmaking is all working, and she’s becoming harder and harder to bet against.

I’ll probably be rooting for Osaka, but as far as betting is concerned, Sabalenka is likely the right side.
