John Millman vs Novak Djokovic
The Line — Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Novak Djokovic will be taking on John Millman in the quarterfinals of the 2018 US Open.
John Millman shocked the tennis world in the fourth round as he came back from one set down to beat Roger Federer in 4 sets. Millman handled the pressure of the match exceptionally well as he managed to save numerous set points while also winning 2 tiebreakers. Millman served well during the contest as he managed to win close to 70% of his service points. Furthermore, Millman hit 8 aces and only conceded 1 point due to a double fault. Heading into this match, Millman will need to improve his receiving game. Against Federer, Millman only broke serve 3 times which shows he was not very strong while receiving serve. This trait could be problematic against Novak Djokovic since the Serbian is a much better defensive player than Federer and he will not allow Millman to win his service games as easily.

On the other side of the court, Novak Djokovic will be pleased by the news that Federer lost. Djokovic would have been preparing to play the Swiss master and will feel that he has an easier match against John Millman. Djokovic has been in great form all tournament and he continued that form in the fourth round as he won in straight sets. In that victory, Djokovic was dominant as he won almost double the number of games compared to his opponent. Novak Djokovic has won this tournament twice before and is hugely experienced at playing at the later stages of grand slam tournaments. With such a high level of skill, form, and experience, Novak Djokovic will be very hard to beat.
These two have played once before where Djokovic won in straight sets.
All in all, I am going to predict Novak Djokovic to win this match. While Millman is having a fairytale run, I think Djokovic will be too much of a challenge for the Australian. Beating Roger Federer would have been John Millman’s Everest and repeating a feat of a similar level two matches in a row might be too much. Djokovic is more experienced, more accomplished and a better player than John Millman. I see Novak Djokovic making the semifinals.
