Petra Martic will be playing at the 2018 WTA 2018 Coupe Banque Nationale where she will be taking on Naomi Broady in the first round.

Naomi Broady enters this tournament in terrible form as she has only won one match since Wimbledon. Such as long run of bad form is not great for any player and Naomi Broady will be desperate to get a victory. Naomi Broady is a very experienced player as she has been on the WTA tour for over a decade and she has proved that she can turn around bad form in the past. That being said, Naomi Broady has drawn a player who is ranked over 100 spots above her so things will be very hard.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Petra Martic lost in the opening round at the US Open but managed to redeem herself by performing well at the WTA 125K event in Chicago. Martic is currently ranked in the top 50 in the world and will enter this tournament as the number 2 seed. This shows that most of the opponents are much lower ranked which means that this will be a great chance for Martic to make a deep run at a full WTA event. Petra Martic has traditionally done well on the hard courts and that should play to her advantage in this tournament.

These two players have played twice before with Petra Martic winning on both occasions. The last meeting was in 2013 where Martic won in 3 sets in Nottingham. The other match was in 2011 in Linz where Martic won in straight sets.

Taking everything into consideration, I am going to predict Petra Martic to win this match. Martic is a much higher ranked player and has a good record against Broady. Furthermore, Broady has struggled to win in recent times having only won once since Wimbledon. I see Petra Martic winning with ease.
