Rebecca Marino vs Tatjana Maria
The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
Tatjana Maria will be playing Rebecca Marino in the opening round of the WTA Coupe Banque Nationale in Quebec City, Canada.
Tatjana Maria enters this tournament in good form as she had a decent US Open and a strong WTA 125K in Chicago. Maria made it into the second round of the US Open where she lost to world number 7, Elina Svitolina. In the first round of the US Open, Tatjana Maria beat former world number 2, Agnieszka Radwańska in straight sets. That victory would have given Maria lots of confidence as she managed to defeat a very accomplished tennis player. Tatjana Maria is a very experienced player as she has been on the WTA circuit for approximately a decade and has won a WTA title. Such a great amount of experience will be hugely beneficial for Maria in this tournament.

On the other side of the court, Rebecca Marino enters this tournament with hopes of doing well in front of her home crowd. While Marino will be familiar with the conditions and will have great support from the crowd, she will need to adjust to the standards of this tournament since she mostly plays ITF events. That being said, these two players have only played once in the past where Marino won. It is important to note that victory was in 2011 and Marino is a much weaker player in 2018 than she was 7 years ago.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to predict that Tatjana Maria will win this match. While Rebecca Marino has the home ground advantage and the experience of winning against Tatjana Maria in the past, I don’t think that will be enough. In 2018, Maria is a much better player than Marino and I don’t think the Canadian has enough to beat the German. I see Maria winning.
