Caroline Wozniacki is coming off a straight sets win over Qiang Wang that took 16 games to decide. In the victory, Wozniacki won 69 percent of her first serve points and 54 percent of her second serve points. Wozniacki won 62 percent of her total service points and saved six of her seven break points. Wozniacki has won all 10 sets this tournament and has been broken just once in her last two matches. Wozniacki has cleaned up her serve and is no longer making the silly errors that had her losing six of her last eight matches heading into this tournament. Wozniacki has a chance to win her third title of the year and her 30th title of her career. Wozniacki has won four of her last five final appearances and is 23-17 in final appearances on hard court. Wozniacki hasn’t won three titles in a single year since 2011. Wozniacki has won six of her last seven matches on hard court.
These two have played four times and Wozniacki has won all four matches. The most recent match was in Rome of this year, a match Wozniacki won in three sets. Wozniacki is 8-1 against Sevastova in total sets played, which includes 6-0 on hard court.
Wozniacki has the clear edge in the head to head, but Sevastova has been playing the better tennis the last few months, and she’s a different player than she was even last year. These two haven’t played on hard court since Dubai of 2017 and Sevastova is a player who has improved tremendously even in the last few months. Heck, Sevastova just beat Osaka in straight sets, the best player in the world at the moment.
I’m not sure how you turn down Sevastova at plus money.
