Stefanos Tsitsipas and Philipp Kohlschreiber meet in the quarterfinals of the 2018 tennis Stockholm Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is coming off a three sets win over John Millman that took 28 games to decide. In the victory, Tsitsipas won 81 percent of his first serve points and 50 percent of his second serve points. Tsitsipas won 66 percent of his total service points and produced three breaks on five break points. Tsitsipas had to really work to win his opening match, but he buckled down with his serve in the third set and played clean tennis in the two sets he won. Tsitsipas is doing a fine job of exchanging in rallies and putting pressure on his opponent, but you’d like to see him be a tad bit more aggressive at times and put guys away when he has the chance. Tsitsipas now hopes to win two matches in each of his last three tournaments. Tsitsipas has won three of his last four matches on indoor hard court.

Jerry Lai-USA TODAY Sports

Philipp Kohlschreiber is coming off a three sets win over Fernando Verdasco that took 35 games to decide. In the victory, Kohlschreiber won 79 percent of his first serve points and 57 percent of his second serve points. Kohlschreiber won 71 percent of his total service points and saved seven of his nine break points. Kohlschreiber looked like he was going to get bounced early after dropping the first set, but he dug deep and won two competitive sets by playing clean tennis. The concern with Kohlschreiber in this match is the fatigue factor, as he’s played over five hours of tennis in his last two matches and is playing a rested player now. Kohlschreiber has a chance to win three matches in back-to-back tournaments. Kohlschreiber has won three of his last four matches on indoor hard court.

These two have played once, which was in Dubai of this year, a match Tsitsipas won in three sets. The match took 29 games to be decided.

Tsitsipas is not only playing cleaner, better tennis, but he has a serious rest advantage considering he didn’t have to play yesterday. Kohlschreiber has played over five hours of tennis in his last two matches and now gears up for a match less than 24 hours later. It’s just not a good spot for Kohlschreiber here.

Tsitsipas wins this match likely in straight sets.
