Adrian Mannarino and Karen Khachanov meet in the final of the 2018 tennis Kremlin Cup.

Adrian Mannarino is coming off a straight sets win over Andreas Seppi that took 24 games to decide. In the victory, Mannarino won 82 percent of his first serve points and 48 percent of his second serve points. Mannarino won 70 percent of his total service points and saved three of his four break points. Mannarino has now won eight straight sets and has won no less than 70 percent of his total service points in each of his last three matches. Mannarino entered this tournament on a six-match losing streak, so this has been quite the turnaround for the 30-year-old Frenchman. Mannarino has a chance to win his first ever ATP singles title, as he’s 0-5 in previous final appearances. Mannarino is 0-3 in final appearances on hard court, and this will be his first ever final appearance on indoor hard court. Mannarino has won six of his last nine matches on indoor hard court.

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Karen Khachanov is coming off a three sets win over Daniil Medvedev that took 29 games to decide. In the victory, Khachanov won 77 percent of his first serve points and 63 percent of his second serve points. Khachanov won 73 percent of his total service points and didn’t face a single break point. Khachanov has been broken just once in his last three matches and has combined for 34 aces this tournament. Khachanov has to like his chances to win this title if he continues to serve this well. Khachanov now has a chance to win four matches in a single tournament for the first time since this years Rogers Cup. Khachanov hopes to win his second title of the year and his third title of his career. Khachanov is 2-0 in previous final appearances, both of those coming on hard court. Khachanov has won three of his last four matches on indoor hard court.

These two have played three times and Khachanov has won two of those matches. The most recent meeting was in the 2017 Australian Open, a match Khachanov won in four sets. Mannarino’s only win over Khachanov came in challenger play in 2015. None of the three matches have been decided in straight sets.

Khachanov not only has the edge over Mannarino in the head to head, but he’s playing better tennis currently and has been a serving machine in this tournament. Mannarino has also had issues closing the deal in finals, while Khachanov has won both of his final appearances. I’m not trying to step in the way of Khachanov and his serve right now.

Look for Khachanov to win his third career title.
