Roger Federer will play Kei Nishikori in a group stage match at the 2018 ATP Finals in London.

Roger Federer looked in good form at the Paris Masters as he made it into the semifinals before losing to Novak Djokovic. It was an unfortunate defeat for Federer as he looked exceptionally strong in the match. Federer won all of his service games and ended up losing 2 sets due to tiebreakers. Prior to the Paris Masters, Federer won his 99th ATP title at the Swiss Indoors meaning the world number 3 is in exceptional touch as he enters this tournament. Roger Federer has an exceptional record at the ATP Finals as he has won 6 year-end championships. Federer last won the ATP Finals in 2011 although the Swiss Master finished second at this event 2012, 2014 and 2016. Considering his recent form and his experience at this event, Roger Federer will be very tough to beat.

Roger Federer vs Kei Nishikori 2018 ATP Finals Tennis Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction

Danielle Parhizkaran-USA TODAY Sports

Kei Nishikori's last tournament was also the Paris Masters where the Japanese superstar was eliminated at the quarterfinal stage by Roger Federer. Nishikori was outplayed by Federer as the Japanese superstar lost the match in straight sets. It seems like Nishikori has big problems when facing Federer as a similar result also happened at the Shanghai Masters which was only weeks ago. In identical fashion to the loss at Paris, Nishikori was beaten by Federer at the Shanghai Masters in straight sets at the quarterfinals. It is going to be hard for Kei Nishikori to turn his form against Federer around considering the ATP Finals in a very favorable event for the Swiss Masters.

Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori have played 9 times in the past with Federer winning on 7 occasions and Nishikori only winning twice. The results have been very one-sided towards Federer in recent times as Kei Nishikori last beat the Swiss Master in 2014.

All in all, I am expecting Roger Federer’s recent dominance over Kei Nishikori to continue. Federer has looked in exceptional form and I expect the Swiss Master to start his tournament with a win.
