Dominic Thiem vs Kei Nishikori
The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The final round of the round robin matches at the ATP Finals in London will see Japanese superstar Kei Nishikori playing against Austrian player, Dominic Thiem.
Unfortunately for Dominic Thiem, he has lost both of his matches meaning it is almost impossible for him to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition. In his previous match, Dominic Thiem was beaten by Roger Federer. It was a poor performance by Thiem as he won no return games while allowing Federer to break his serve on 4 occasions. During the entire match, Thiem never caused any challenges for Federer during the Swiss Master’s serve as the Austrian only won 6 return points in the entire match. It has been a very poor tournament for Thiem and it will be hard to turn things around considering his morale will be low.

On the other side of the court, Kei Nishikori must win this match to keep his tournament alive, Nishikori beat Roger Federer in his opening match but was beaten by Kevin Anderson yesterday meaning the Japanese superstar is in a difficult position. As it currently stands, Nishikori needs a big win to stay in contention so I am expecting a strong start from the Japanese player. It will be important for Nishikori to put his match against Anderson behind him as it was a very bad day. Nishikori was defeated badly as he only won one game in the entire match.
Kei Nishikori and Dominic Thiem have played 4 times in the past with Nishikori having the better head-to-head record of 3-1. The most recent match between these two players was at the 2018 Vienna Open where Nishikori beat Thiem in front of the Austrian player’s home crowd.
All in all, I am going to pick Kei Nishikori to win this match. Dominic Thiem looked deflated after his last loss and I don’t see how he pick himself up and turns his form around considering he has no chance of making the semifinals. Nishikori has everything to play for and I see the Japanese superstar handing Thiem his 3rd loss for the tournament.
