Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic meet in the final of the 2018 tennis ATP Finals.

Alexander Zverev is coming off a straight sets win over Roger Federer that took 17 games to decide. In the victory, Zverev won 88 percent of his first serve points and 64 percent of his second serve points. Zverev won 80 percent of his total service points and saved two of his three break points. Zverev has now won six of his eight sets this tournament and has been rather consistent with his serve for the most part. As long as Zverev continues to win 55 percent or more with his second serve, he’s got a chance to win this tournament. Zverev looks to his fourth title of the year and his 10th title of his career. Zverev is 5-1 in his career in final appearances on hard court. Zverev has won five of his last seven matches on indoor hard court.

Novak Djokovic is coming off a straight sets win over Kevin Anderson that took 16 games to decide. In the victory, Djokovic won 85 percent of his first serve points and 75 percent of his second serve points. Djokovic won 82 percent of his total service points and didn’t face a single break point. Djokovic has won every set he’s played this tournament and has faced a combined two break points in his last eight sets. While his career speaks for itself, this is as good we’ve seen from Djokovic in quite some time, and there’s reason for him to be a big favorite to bring home another title. Djokovic hopes to win his fifth title of the year and his 73rd title of his career. Djokovic is 54-18 in career final appearances on hard court. Djokovic has won 17 of his last 23 final appearances overall. Djokovic has won eight of his last nine matches on indoor hard court.

These two have split the previous four meetings. Djokovic won the most recent match which was in this years ATP Finals, a match Novak won in 17 games. Djokovic is 2-0 against Zverev on hard court. All four matches have ended in straight sets.

Zverev is a worthy opponent and should have the confidence to steal the win given he’s beaten Djokovic in 50 percent of the meetings. Not many players can say that. However, betting against Djokovic in his current form isn’t a wise move. You’re talking about a player who isn’t even facing break points, let alone coming close to losing matches.

I’ll take Djokovic in straight sets yet again.
