No.2 seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas, meets Alexander Bublik in the second-round of the 2020 Dubai Open. Who will make it to the quarterfinals?
Stefanos Tsitsipas came through a very tough match in the first round against Spaniard, Pablo Carreno Busta. Tsitsipas started out incredibly well, leading 3-0 and having 3 break points to go up a double break in the first set. However, Tsitsipas then got tight and the first set reached a tiebreak. In the tiebreak Tsitsipas turned the engines back on and absolutely dominated. Tsitsipas then did not give PBC the opportunity to even get in front in the second set and ran away with the match 7-6/6-1. Tsitsipas told us after the match that he was tired from Marseille and the travelling to Dubai but that he is going to work extremely hard to recover before his match tomorrow.
Alexander Bublik easily beat Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets to secure his spot in the second-round here in Dubai. Bublik as I always say, is one of the most naturally talented players on tour. Bublik can play any shot he wants, but what lacks in his game, is his composure. Bublik does not think like he should when he plays and this makes him lose matches which he should not lose. Bublik also gets very emotional and loses his temper when things do not go his way. This is what makes him stay low in the rankings and why he is not able to evolve as a player.
This will be the second meeting between both players, with their prior encounter taking place only a few days ago. Tsitsipas absolutely dominated their first encounter, and it will be hard to see any other outcome than a Tsitsipas victory. Bublik can make the match tough, but Tsitsipas is the more composed of the players, he is more talented and he has the better mentality.
Stefanos Tsitsipas to win.
