Dominic Thiem meets friend Grigor Dimitrov in their last match on Day 2 of the Adria Tour. Will Dimitrov bounce back after a shocking loss or will Thiem get a third win under his belt here in Belgrade?

Grigor Dimitrov had to play Nikola Milojevic in his second match on Saturday, and what should have been an easy victory over an extremely lower-ranked player, ended up being an upset which the Serbian crowd loved. Dimitrov was not very consistent on Saturday, winning his match against Lajovic in 3 tight sets and losing against Milojevic in straight sets. Dimitrov is a great player but he lacks consistency. Dimitrov could be one of the best in the game and he could be winning titles consistently if he wants to. However, if Dimitrov plays the same way he did in his second match on Saturday, he is in for a long Sunday.

Dominic Thiem only really played one match on Saturday as he won the first one due to the retirement of Damir Dzumhur. Thiem eventually played in the night session against Dusan Lajovic, beating him in 3 tight sets. Thiem was not the best he has been in recent months and he has to improve his level before the tour restarts. Lajovic was in a perfect position to win that match, being 6-3 up in the final set tiebreak. Thiem was able to fend off the match points and then win it 8-6 in the third. Thiem is better than this on clay and hopefully, on Sunday, he can show that again.

This will be the sixth meeting between both players, and shockingly Dimitrov leads the H2H 3-2. They played 4 times in 2016 and 2017, however, their last meeting was last year in Paris where Dimitrov won in straight sets. Dimitrov was in better form in those months and it would be shocking to see such an easy win for the Bulgarian. Thiem will want to get revenge for that loss and if he can find more consistency in his game, I am sure this is a Thiem victory.

Dominic Thiem to win.
