Damir Dzumhur vs. Dusan Lajovic - 2020 Adria Tour
Sunday, June 14 2020
Dusan Lajovic meets Damir Dzumhur on the last day of the opening weekend at the Adria Tour. Lajovic performed very well although he did not achieve the results he would have liked on the first day. Lajovic was very good against Dimitrov and it was a very tight match. Dzumhur, on the other hand, was not in form enough to play as he injured himself in his first match against Dominic Thiem. Will Dzumhur be able to recover and perform on day 2?
Dusan Lajovic has been incredible over the last year, being one of the most underrated players on the tour in my opinion. Lajovic reached the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 Final last year, losing to Fabio Fognini in straight sets, but since then he has shown us that he is not to be taken lightly. Lajovic was also an integral part of the ATP Cup Team Serbia victory earlier this year, being extremely consistent in his matches. Lajovic has got it all on his day, and we know he can perform against the best players in the world.
Damir Dzumhur will be very disappointed that his body did not hold up well to playing tennis again. Dzumhur suffered an injury on his serve at the start of his first match against Dominic Thiem and had to retire. Dzumhur will have been getting treatment to get his body back on track quickly and let's hope its nothing serious as he is a very exciting player to watch. Dzumhur has performed well on big stages in the last year, putting on a solid performance against Roger Federer last year at the US Open. Will Dzumhur however be able to be fit enough to compete at a high level here in Belgrade?
This will be the second meeting between both players and it was a very fun match in their first encounter. Lajovic won their first match in four sets at the 2018 US Open, with Dzumhur winning the first set, and then Lajovic coming back winning 3 sets in a row. These players know each other well and I am sure that if they both play their best tennis, they will put on an incredible match. The only thing which makes this an easy pick, however, is Dzumhur's body. Take Lajovic to win.
Dusan Lajovic to win.
