Marin Cilic vs. Alexander Zverev - 2020 Adria Tour
Saturday, June 20 2020
Alexander Zverev will face one of his toughest tests here at the Adria Tour as he meets Marin Cilic in his second match on Saturday. Will Zverev be able to hold off the strong Croat, or will Cilic teach Zverev a lesson in tennis?
Alexander Zverev has been solid at the Adria Tour in his baseline rallies, but he has not been solid on his serve. Zverev is still struggling with his serve and it is really the only aspect of his game which lets him down. Zverev has the ability to become a Grand Slam champion, world No.1, and much more if he just is able to get his serve in check. It is hard to see that happening without Zverev fixing his serve. Zverev has all the potential in the world and it is a shame to see it not be fulfilled at the moment. However, Zverev is so good in other aspects of his game that he is still able to win tough matches.
Marin Cilic will be coming back after a long break and hopefully, he will be finally at 100%. Cilic has struggled as of recent due to injuries and hopefully, this break will have allowed him to have the time to fully recover so we can see him compete at his best level. People often forget how good Cilic is. Cilic is a Grand Slam champion and one of the best servers in the game. Cilic can beat anyone on his day and hopefully, we can see him back to his best this weekend at the Adria Tour.
This will be the 8th meeting between both players, with Alexander Zverev absolutely dominating the head to head 6-1. All of their encounters have been extremely tight and fell most of the time in Zverev's hand. However, I do not see that happening in this match. Zverev is not as good as he used to be when he beat Cilic in the past and I think we will see a very motivated Cilic. Cilic has the ability to take advantage of the poor Zverev serve and cause the upset.
Marin Cilic to win.
