Marin Cilic vs. Andrey Rublev - 2020 Adria Tour
Saturday, June 20 2020
One of the most exciting matches of the day is here. Andrey Rublev meets Marin Cilic in what is going to be an extremely tight match with many ups and downs for both players. Who will come out on top, experience, or youth?
Andrey Rublev has been absolutely incredible this year, winning 2 titles already and showing us that he is one of the best young players on the tour. Rublev has it all, a big serve, a strong forehand, and a precise backhand. Rublev can challenge anyone in the game, and this was seen last year when he easily beat Roger Federer on a hard-court. Rublev has a lot of potential and if he is playing the same way he was before the break in tennis, then he is going to be able to challenge everyone here at the second weekend of the Adria Tour.
Marin Cilic has been struggling as of recent years to find his old form. Cilic has had knee issues which have prevented him from playing his best tennis and this has not been great for his confidence. Cilic is such a good player when on top of his game, and that is why I hope he has been able to fully recover during this break. Cilic is not just an average player, this is a Grand Slam winner who can beat anyone and everyone on his day. Cilic will want to come out here and show us how good he really is, and hopefully, he can.
This is going to be the fourth meeting between both players, with Andrey Rublev leading the head to head 2-1. These two met twice last year and Rublev dominated those matches. Cilic will want to get revenge, but can he? Rublev was in much better form going into the break, and Cilic was not great due to his knee issues. This can be a tight match if Cilic is playing at his best, but I am not sure he will be fully recovered in his first match back. Rublev is just in better form at the moment and he will be able to capitalize on the momentum in my opinion.
Andrey Rublev to win.
