Matteo Berrettini vs. Feliciano Lopez - 2020 Ultimate Tennis Showdown
Saturday, June 20 2020
The second weekend of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown is here and we are very excited to see some more amazing tennis matches! The new format here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown has been very interesting and definitely made matches much faster and closer. In the first match of the second weekend, we have the unstoppable Matteo Berrettini coming up against the veteran Feliciano Lopez. Will Berrettini continue to dominate or will Lopez cause the upset?
Matteo Berrettini was absolutely incredible on the first weekend of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, absolutely destroying both Dustin Brown and David Goffin, winning both matches 3-1. Berrettini has clearly been working extremely hard on his game and he looks better than ever. Berrettini knows that if he can keep up this level of play, he is definitely going to challenge for the title. Berrettini has a huge serve, a strong forehand and he is very fast around the court. Berrettini is looking to repeat his success from last weekend, and I am sure that if he plays the same way, he will do it easily.
Feliciano Lopez went 1-1 on the first weekend of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, beating Lucas Pouille in a sudden death tiebreak, and losing to Alexei Popyrin 3-1. Lopez played some amazing tennis and he is only going to improve with the more minutes he gets on the court. Lopez has a lot of experience and he will definitely be able to keep matches close here, and maybe even win some.
This is going to be the second meeting between both players with Matteo Berrettini having won the first encounter in straight sets in 2018 at Gstaad. Berrettini is obviously the much better player and he is definitely the favorite to win this match, however, he does not have as much incentive as Lopez to win this match. Berrettini is basically qualified for the next stage of the tournament and he might take it a bit easier. This might make the match go to a sudden death tiebreak, but eventually, I think the power and the precision of Berrettini will be too much for the Spaniard.
Matteo Berrettini to win.
