Alexei Popyrin vs. Lucas Pouille - 2020 Ultimate Tennis Showdown
Sunday, June 21 2020
The youngster, Alexei Popyrin, meets the Frenchman, Lucas Pouille, in what is going to be an extremely close second-week encounter at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. Both players have a lot to prove here, and they will give it their all. However, only one can come out victorious, who will it be?
Lucas Pouille has not played his best tennis yet here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, losing some extremely close encounters. Pouille has not lived up to his hype in recent years and it is a shame as he is a very solid player. Pouille needs to concentrate more during his matches if he wants to be able to compete here. Pouille has a strong serve but he is not as solid in his baseline rallies. Pouille will have to improve his level as he now meets a player who is full of energy and motivation to win matches.
Alexei Popyrin is going to shine even more here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown as he is extremely fun to watch. Popyrin is flamboyant, strong, fast, and precise in his playing style. Popyrin is out here to prove to everyone that he is going to be one of the main youngsters on tour in the near future and that the big players should not take him lightly. Popyrin was great in his first weekend here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown and he will want to continue to use this momentum to his advantage. Will he be able to perform at an amazing level again or will he lose against a more experienced player?
This is going to be the second meeting between both players, with Lucas Pouille having won their first encounter. They met at the 2019 Australian Open in an incredible 5 set match, which Pouille won 6-3 in the fifth. Alexei Popyrin put on a solid performance in that match and I am sure that he will want to get his revenge for that match. Popyrin has more energy, is stronger, taller, and is able to win points easily compared to Pouille at the moment. I think Popyrin proves himself again here.
Alexei Popyrin to win.
