Andrey Rublev vs. Novak Djokovic - 2020 Adria Tour
Sunday, June 21 2020
The two best players of the second weekend at the Zadar stop of the Adria Tour finally meet. World No.1, Novak Djokovic, meets up and comer Andrey Rublev in what is going to be an incredible clash. Will Djokovic tame the youngster, or will Rublev give Djokovic a taste of the future of tennis?
Andrey Rublev has just been astonishing here in Zadar, winning all of his matches in easy fashion. Rublev beat Cilic and Zverev who are much more experienced players than him. Rublev is coming in hot to the ATP Tour, having won 2 titles already this season, and showing us in the last year that he can beat the best players in the world. Rublev has some big wins under his belt, such as against Roger Federer in the Cincinnati Masters 2019, and Stefanos Tsitsipas at the 2019 US Open. Rublev is going to be a top 10 player very soon in my opinion and he will definitely cause some issues against the Big 3.
Novak Djokovic also was very solid this weekend, also going 3-0 in his matches. It is fair to say that Djokovic's matches were not as challenging as Rublev as he only faced Borna Coric as an ATP player. Novak is still a bit rusty in his serve after the break and he will want to come out here and ensure he's playing his best. Nole is the best player in the world and the best returner, but if he is not 100% it is going to be tough for him.
This is going to be the first meeting between both players, and I'm taking the Russian here. Of course, Novak is the world No.1, but he has not impressed as much as Rublev. We all know that Djokovic can be beat, as we saw last weekend in his loss to Filip Krajinovic. Andrey Rublev is energetic, full of confidence, and determined to make himself even more known throughout the tennis community. Expect this match to be an upset, as Andrey Rublev will come out and dominate against a somewhat rusty Novak Djokovic.
Andrey Rublev to win.
