Matteo Berrettini vs. Richard Gasquet - 2020 Ultimate Tennis Showdown
Saturday, June 27 2020
The final match on Saturday at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown is here as Richard Gasquet meets Matteo Berrettini. Will Gasquet show us his incredible game again, or will Berrettini's power be too much for the French star?
Matteo Berrettini has been absolutely incredible here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, going 3-1 in his matches. Berrettini's serve has been impeccable, and the power he puts behind his forehand just throws his opponents off the court. It is hard for anyone to play against Berrettini because he is just incredibly strong. Berrettini will want to win the title here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown and he knows that if he continues to play the way he has, he has a very good chance of doing so. Berrettini is one of the main guys who is going to take over the tennis world in the future and he is showing that day in and day out here.
Richard Gasquet has shown us over the last two weekends that he is not to be discounted. Gasquet from 2019 and Gasquet here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown are completely opposite players. Gasquet is playing some of the best tennis he has in years, and his one-handed backhand has been impeccable. Gasquet is able to return basically every ball and his opponents can't swing a shot past him. Gasquet has beaten the likes of Tsitsipas here already and I am sure he is very confident that he can beat Berrettini on Saturday night.
This is going to be the second meeting between both players, with Matteo Berrettini leading the head to head 1-0. These two players met in the first round of the 2019 US Open, with Berrettini winning the match in 4 sets. Berrettini will use that victory as a confidence boost coming into this match, however, I see this as an issue for him. Gasquet is much much better than he was in 2019 and I am afraid that Berrettini will underestimate him. Gasquet will come out and use Berrettini's power to redirect balls with his one-handed backhand. Expect a fun match, but one where Gasquet wins.
Richard Gasquet to win.
