Feliciano Lopez vs. Benoit Paire - Ultimate Tennis Showdown
Sunday, June 28 2020
Feliciano Lopez meets Benoit Paire in what is going to be an extremely tight match on Sunday at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. Will Feliciano Lopez take advantage of an unfocused Benoit Paire, or will the Frenchman finally play some competitive tennis?
Feliciano Lopez has still got it at the age of 38. Lopez is in great shape and he is able to still compete at the highest of levels. Lopez has played very well over the last two weekends and he shows us that he is not going to retire any time soon. Lopez seems to be at the peak of his game at the moment and he will want to use the momentum he has gained here to start the ATP season on the right foot. Lopez has a big left serve and one of the best lefty forehands in the game. This allows him to take control of matches against right-handed opponents like Benoit Paire.
Benoit Paire just does not seem to be working hard here at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. If Paire is losing, he gives up and just starts to throw a temper tantrum. It is hard to back a player like Benoit Paire who just does put the right energy and the right mentality in his game. Paire has all the talent in the world, but he lacks maturity in my opinion. I think Paire has some drastic things to change in his attitude if he is to remain close to his colleagues in the rankings.
This is going to be the fifth meeting between both players, with Feliciano Lopez leading the head to head 3-1. Lopez and Benoit Paire most recently met about a year ago at the Miami Masters 1000, where Lopez won in 3 sets. Lopez is the better player currently and this is only aided by the fact that Paire does not focus as much as he should in matches. If Paire was on top of his game, this would be another story, but he is not. Paire gives up and complains, whilst Lopez focuses and takes control of matches. There is no contest here.
Feliciano Lopez to win.
