Alex De Minaur has had a very solid US Open tournament, beating the likes of Richard Gasquet and Vasek Pospisil on his way to the quarterfinals. De Minaur has an extremely bright future ahead and even he thinks that. In his post-match press conference De Minaur said he should be in these quarterfinals of Slams on a regular basis and that this is the level he needs to be playing at. I think that he might be getting a bit too ahead of himself, but his self belief and confidence is not a bad thing. De Minaur is incredible on the ball, and he is Australia’s hottest young prospect. De Minaur just needs to find that consistency in his game, and once he does, he will be amongst the top of the pack.

Dominic Thiem has had an amazing run here at the US Open and deservedly so. Thiem has cruised in all of his matches, especially his fourth round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime, in which many pundits believed that it could potentially go to a fifth set. Thiem knows that this is going to be his best chance of winning his maiden Grand Slam and that he will have to play at his best if he is to win here in New York.

Thiem is the far better player in my opinion and although Alex De Minaur is incredible on the ball and has a lot of potential, he is just no match for Thiem in Grand Slams.
