Jannik Sinner vs Philipp Kohlschreiber 9/9/20 Kitzbuhel Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-09 00:00:00 EDT

The young Italian superstar, Jannik Sinner, meets the German veteran, Philipp Kohlschreiber, in what is going to be a battle of the generations here in the first round of the Kitzbuhel Open. Will youth or experience prevail?

Philipp Kohlschreiber is one of the most experienced players on the tour, especially when you look at the field of German players. Kohlschreiber’s game is very solid and very beautiful game to watch. Kohlschreiber is able to continuously play long and grueling rallies and is one of the best returners in the game. Kohlschreiber is going to know he can content for the title here, but in my opinion it is going to be a tougher ask than it was a couple years ago when he was capable of still competing with the likes of Djokovic and the Big 3. Kohlschreiber has a lot of talent and experience, and he will need to use it here if he is to prevail.

Jannik Sinner is one of the hottest young prospects in the men’s game at the moment, bursting onto the scene last year by putting on solid performances against big players, and winning the NextGen ATP Finals in Milan at the end of the year. Sinner is expected to shine even more this year and next year, but he will really need to begin getting these smaller tournament victories under his belt to get his confidence and game up to the levels they need to be. Sinner has a lot of potential and talent, but its time he takes these tournaments in his hands.

This is going to be the first meeting between both players and this is going to be a tight encounter. If this was early 2019, I would take Kohlschreiber with ease, but this is 2020. Jannik Sinner is the young prodogy at the moment and he has more energy and talent than Kohlschreiber. Philipp has the experience and that might buy him a set in this match, but at the end of the day, I have to go with the young Italian to come through and shine here in Kitzbuhel.
