Dominic Thiem vs. Daniil Medvedev 9/11/20 US Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The 2020 US Open Semi-Final we have all been waiting for is here, and to be honest this should be the final because in my opinion, whoever wins this match, will win the Final on Sunday. Dominic Thiem meets Daniil Medvedev in what is going to be one of the most entertaining matches of the year. But who will come out on top?

Daniil Medvedev put on an incredibly solid performance against Alex De Minaur, absolutely destroying the Australian in 3 sets without any major issues. Thiem is definitely the favourite to win the tournament, especially after the last few years he’s had. It really feels like it is Thiem’s time to win his first major and he will hope to come through what is going to be a very tight match on Friday. I believe that if Thiem gives it his all, he will definitely be considered to be the favourite, but we will not know until tomorrow comes.

Daniil Medvedev also put on a superb performance against Andrey Rublev on Wednesday, beating his fellow Russian and friend in straight sets. The match was a walk in the park for Medvedev in the first two sets in my opinion, however towards the end of the third set, Medvedev started to cramp and had shoulder issues. Medvedev was able to power on and win the third set to book his spot in the semifinals, however, if that third set had gone differently, it could have spelled trouble for the Russian. Medvedev will need to be at 110% physically here if he is to stand a chance against Thiem to plays so aggressively.

This is going to be the fourth meeting between both players, with Dominic Thiem leading the head to head 2-1. Thiem shockingly not the odds favourite here which I do not understand. Medvedev of course was the finalist here last year, but Thiem was the Australian Open finalist this year, and he has had an incredible tournament so far. I think Medvedev can definitely take this match to 5 sets, but i think this is Thiem’s time to shine and make his first US Open final.
