Grigor Dimitrov vs. Jannik Sinner 9/18/20 Rome Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Grigor Dimitrov meets Jannik Sinner in the third round of the 2020 Rome Open in what is going to be a very close, very fun match between two generations in tennis. Will the young Italian put on another incredibly solid performance here, or will the more experienced Dimitrov shut him down?

Jannik Sinner came through a very interesting second round match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Going into the match Tsitsipas was the clear favourite and he definitely should have won that match with ease. However, Tsitsipas just did not look focused at all and could not hit the ball if you paid him to. Tsitsipas needs to refocus himself on the game and show us all why he is one of the best, a thing which has been hard for him to do over the last 2 matches he has played. Sinner was able to win in 3 sets, however, he did not win it in my opinion, more like he was handed the victory.

Grigor Dimitrov absolutely dominated Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round beating the Japanese star in straight sets with ease. Dimitrov is looking better and better in his matches and he needs to ensure he maintains this consistency because it would be great to see him back on top of the tennis world and showing us all week in and week out his beautiful game. Dimitrov will want to go far here in Rome and ensure he is thoroughly prepared for Roland Garros in 10ish days. 

This is going to be the first encounter between these two players and I am sure many are speculating a Jannik Sinner victory after that win over Stefanos Tsitsipas. However, I would like to disagree. Tsitsipas handed Sinner the match and if he was even playing a bit better, Sinner would not have won that match. Sinner still needs to gain a lot of experience for me and he will learn a tough lesson on Friday when Grigor Dimitrov, a much better player with a more beautiful game style, wins this third round encounter. I expect Sinner to put up a fight, but for Dimitrov to come out victorious.
