Fourth seeded Alex De Minaur of Australia faces eighth seeded Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in the Final of the first tournament for the year, the 2021 Antalya Open in Turkey. The match will take place on Wednesday January 13th, 2021 at approximately 4:00am EST. They have never faced each other before and will both be eager to get the upper hand and claim their first title of the year. Who will emerge victorious?
Alex De Minaur has established himself in the top 30 of the rankings, and seems destined for bigger things. Over the past few years he has been known as one of the most consistent performers on tour, and has steadily improved each year. Currently ranked number 23, he has been in outstanding form this week. He dropped only one set so far, in a hard fought Semi-Final win over David Goffin. He will be looking to use his elite movement and counter-punching skills against the temperamental Kazakh and will enter this match as the favorite.
Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan is somewhat of an enigma on the ATP Tour. He possesses bags of talent, but very rarely puts it all together as he can get distracted very easily and self-destruct. He has been very impressive this week though, with some upset wins over players like Matteo Berrettini and will have a great shot at the title if he can keep his focus. He has a huge game with a big serve and groundstrokes but also is capable of playing a finesse game. On a good day is is extremely hard to beat but it remains to be seen if he can keep it together for one more match. This will be his third ATP title so those two final losses will surely be playing on his mind tomorrow.
Depending on which version of Bublik will show up it could be very interesting but I am going to side with the young Aussie here. His game is tailor-made to frustrate a player like Bublik in that he rarely makes unforced errors and can get to balls that most players cannot. If Bublik comes out firing he has a great chance but I expect his opponent to grind him down eventually. Alex De Minaur to win and claim the first title of 2021.
