Marketa Vondrousova meets Varvara Gracheva in the second round of the 2021 WTA Yarra Valley Classic on Monday, February 1st 2021. Will the young prodigy Vondrousova get her game up to speed to potentially win the tournament here, and be able to compete with the best in the world at the Australian Open?
Marketa Vondrousova has so much promise in her game and she is definitely going to become a superstar and multiple time Grand Slam champion as her game continuously improves and evolves. Vondrousova has a massive serve, and is consistent on both her forehand and her backhand. Vondrousova knows she can compete in the biggest tournaments in the world, as we saw her reach the 2019 Roland Garros Final which she lost to the world no.1, Ashleigh Barty. Vondrousova will definitely be the breakout star in the Women’s tournament in 2021 I believe, and it will all begin here in Australia at the WTA Yarra Valley Classic and at the Australian Open.
Varvara Gracheva came through a very tight 3-set match against Cabrera, which saw the young Russian come back from a set down. Gracheva looked shocking in the first set, but she was eventually able to gain composure and play the tennis she likes playing. Cabrera was not comfortable playing long and draining rallies, which only helped Gracheva win both the rallies, and the short points as Cabrera hit many unforced errors trying to finish the points off early.
This is going to be the first meeting between both players. This is going to be a tight match, but I am a very big fan of the young Vondrousova who has an exceptional game and a lot of natural talent. This is going to be a tough match because it’s the first match for Vondrousova in Australia this year and Gracheva showed some great tennis in the second and third set of her first round matchup, but I believe she will get some solid minutes under her belt before the Australian Open as she makes her way to the third round at the WTA Yarra Valley Classic.
