Ashleigh Barty meets Marie Bouzkova in the third round of the 2021 WTA Yarra Valley Classic on Wednesday, February 3rd 2021. With both players playing some very good tennis at the moment, will we see a tight match, or will we see the local hero Ashleigh Barty dominate as we expect her to?
Marie Bouzkova came through a very good first round match, beating Bolsova in 3 sets 6-3/6-7/6-2. Bouzkova was good in all sets, however, she let her guard down a little bit in the second set tiebreak, allowing Bolsova to take the match to a deciding set. However, Bouzkova maintained her composure, and ensured she put her foot down in all rallies in the third set. Bouzkova will have some increased confidence after that victory, but she now meets a much tougher opponent in Ashleigh Barty and therefore will have to drastically raise her level of play and consistency.
Ashleigh Barty cruised through her second round match here against Ana Bogdan, beating the Romanian in straight sets 6-3/6-3. Ashleigh Barty, if she is playing at this level, and continues to improve over the next few matches, is definitely going to be the favourite for the Australian Open in my opinion. Barty is the hardest player to play on the tour at the moment due to her incredible consistency which is not very much seen on the WTA Tour these days. Will Barty be able to continue this party, or will a shocking upset be on the cards here?
This is going to be the first meeting between both players and it is going to be a very tight one. Marie Bouzkova can definitely cause the Australian some trouble in the match. However, I am not sure whether she will be able to play consistently enough throughout the match. On the other hand, we know Ashleigh Barty is going to come out and play strongly in all points. This is what separates the two players. I think Barty will win the title here at the Yarra Valley Classic and Marie Bouzkova is just another step on the way to the title.
