Filip Krajinovic finally gets some competitive minutes under his belt as he meets Robin Haase in the first round of the 2021 Australian Open on Tuesday, February 9th 2021. Will Robin Haase be able to cause what would be a shocking upset nowadays against Krajinovic, or will Krajinovic show us why he is one of the best Serbian players on the tour?
Robin Haase is only coming into this tournament as a Lucky Loser and he has not really shown any tennis over the last few years to believe that he is well suited to compete with the best players in the world anymore. Haase is unable to find the consistency and intensity which saw him competing with some of the best in the world a few years ago, and he now even struggles to compete on the Challenger Tour as the level of competition in the entire world of tennis is continuously getting higher and higher. Will Haase be able to cause a shocking upset here, or will he be packing his bags and going back to the Challenger Tour?
Filip Krajinovic has not played any competitive mintues in the singles at the 2021 ATP Cup although he could have potentially ruffled some feathers more than Dusan Lajovic did as his game is more suited to hard courts. Krajinovic has a great game and he is very underrated and he is a force to be reckoned with when taken too lightly from his opponents. Krajinovic will be quite happy with his first round match as he can definitely get the job done quickly here if he comes out playing his best tennis.
This is going to be the second meeting between both players, with Robin Haase leading the head to head 1-0. Although Haase leads the head to head, this was many years ago when he was on top of his game, and Krajinovic was not in the form he has been in the last few years. Krajinovic knows he is levels above the lucky loser Haase, and he will come out here ready to get this match done in straight sets due to his very expansive and rapid game on hard courts. Filip Krajinovic to win.
