Denis Shapovalov (3) meets Lloyd Harris in the semi finals of the 2021 Dubai Open on Friday, March 19th2021.
Will Lloyd Harris be able to impress everyone and make his way to the Final here in Dubai, or will Denis Shapovalov continue to cruise through his matches with ease here in this semi final?
Denis Shapovalov is just on top of his game at the moment, playing some of the best tennis I have seen from him in a while. Shapovalov has spent just under 4 hours on court in 3 matches here in Dubai as he is playing with extreme speed and accuracy. Shapovalov beat Jeremy Chardy in the quarter finals, beating the Frenchman in straight sets 7-5/6-4. Shapovalov will want to win his second career title and first title of the year in 2021 here in Dubai, but he will have to make his way through Lloyd Harris in what is going to be a very tight match here in the semi finals.
Lloyd Harris is in great form at the moment, showing all of us that he is only going to keep improving his tennis game over 2021. Harris was able to beat the in form Kei Nishikori in the quarter finals, beating him in 3 sets 6-1/3-6/6-3. Harris will want to make his way to the Final here as he knows that this is going to be one of his best chances to win an ATP 500 title in a while due to the lack of threats on this side of the draw after he eliminated Dominic Thiem early in the tournament. How will Harris deal with the flamboyant style of Shapovalov?
This is going to be the first meeting between both players, and it is definitely going to be a very exciting and tight encounter. Although Denis Shapovalov has been playing his best tennis here, I do see the determination of Lloyd Harris this week allowing him to get the best of the youngster. Nishikori has played in some of the biggest matches this week and has proved everyone wrong and he knows how to return against someone who serves as big as Denis. This will definitely be a tight match, but look for the South African to make his way to the Final.
