Stefanos Tsitsipas (2) meets Hubert Hurkacz (26) in the quarter finals of the 2021 Miami Open on Thursday, April 1st 2021.
Will Hubert Hurkacz cause another upset here in Miami against a player who he has struggled against, or will Stefanos Tsitsipas continue his domination here in Miami as he looks to win his first big title?
Hubert Hurkacz came through a tight 3-set encounter against Milos Raonic coming back from a set down 4-6/6-3/7-6. Hubert Hurkacz is in great form in 2021, winning the Delray Beach Open, and making the later stages of many tournaments, including here in Miami. Hurkacz will be happy with his performances, but he will now know that he has to raise the stakes even more as he meets Tsitsipas who he has struggled a lot against in the last few years on the ATP Tour. Will Hurkacz be able to cause the upset?
Stefanos Tsitsipas eased through his fourth round match, beating the Italian Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets 6-2/7-6. Tsitsipas is improving with every match he plays, and he will want to get himself into the Final as he wants to win his first big title on the ATP Tour. Tsitsipas struggles a lot when it comes to the later stages of big tournaments, but he will be feeling confident that he can get the job done as the Big 3 are not here in Miami. Tsitsipas will also be feeling confident as he meets Hurkacz who he has recently beat in Rotterdam last month.
This is going to be the seventh meeting between both players, with Tsitsipas leading the head to head 5-1. They met in Rotterdam last month where Tsitsipas won in 3 sets in a very tight match. It is definitely going to be a very tight match between these two big servers, but I cannot see Tsitsipas losing here when he is in this form. Hurkacz is a solid player, but he does not have the ability to move as fast as Tsitsipas around the court. Stefanos Tsitsipas to win and make his way to the semi finals.
