Top seeded Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain will face Korean Soon-Woo Kwon in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 Andalucia Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Friday April 9th, 2021 at 9:00am EST.
This will be an entertaining Quarter-Final match here in Marbella and it is one that should not be missed. Will the top seeded PCB advance to the Semi-Finals on home soil? Or can the unseeded South Korean cause the huge upset?
Pablo Carreno Busta has been a top 20 player for a long time and is considered the heavy favorite to lift the title here at the 2021 Andalucia Open. After a disappointing season thus far he will be hoping for a good performance here at home to turn his season around. He was made to work hard in his Round of 16 win by Mario Vilella Martinez, and knows that he will have to be better here against the in-form Soon-Woo Kwon. His solid, aggressive baseline game is tough to handle on any surface and he enters this match as the big favorite here.
Soon-Woo Kwon is currently ranked #81 in the ATP world rankings and has been outstanding so far here at the 2021 Andalucia Open. After a tough three set win over Holger Rune in the Opening Round, he cruised past Facundo Bagnis 6-1, 6-3 in what was a brilliant exhibition of clay court tennis. He is a very aggressive baseline player who normally prefers the faster surfaces, but coupled with his outstanding footwork is talented enough to compete on the clay. He enters this match as the massive underdog but will be very confident of causing the upset here due to his current form.
This match may not be as straightforward as the rankings suggest, but I am still backing Pablo Carreno Busta to win here. He is simply the better player in every area, and there is not much that can stand in his way in his quest to claim his first title of the year. Kwon is in very good form and is capable of keeping it close, but expect him to fall short here.
