Jaume Munar vs. Marco Cecchinato

Jaume Munar meets Marco Cecchinato (WC) in the semi finals of the 2021 Parma Open on Friday, May 28th 2021.
This is a battle between two clay-court loving players who are really only able to compete in these ATP 250 tournaments. Which of these players is going to make their way to the final and make their way to the final in Parma?
Marco Cecchinato will be looking to make his first final in a very long time on an ATP Tour tournament as he has had a very strong week here in Parma. Cecchinato beat Norbert Gombos in the quarter finals in straight sets 6-3/6-1. The Italian is finding his rhythm here on the clay of Parma, but he will want to ensure he puts up a strong fight in this semi final to ensure he still has some confidence and momentum going into either the final or the French Open next week.
Jaume Munar dominated the veteran Frenchman, Richard Gasquet, in the quarter finals, beating him in straight sets 6-1/6-1. Jaume Munar has been in strong form in ATP 250 tournaments this year, having made a final already over a month ago, but he knows that if he makes the Final here in Parma, he has a much stronger chance of winning compared to his previous final this year. Jaume Munar is very quick, powerful, and has trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy, so he can definitely ruffle some feathers here on these clay courts of the Parma Open.
This is going to be the 2nd meeting between both players, with Jaume Munar having won their only prior encounter. I expect for this to be a very tight match as both players have played some great tennis all week, and both have not lost a set on these clay courts of Parma. However, when push comes to shove, I am more confident in Jaume Munar bringing out his best tennis under pressure compared to Marco Cecchinato who has not been successful since 2018. It will be tight, and the match will be decided by a handful of points, but Munar should win in the end.
