Alexander Zverev vs Roman Safiullin
June 2, 2021 8:00 am EDT
Sixth seed Alexander Zverev of Germany will face unseeded Russian Roman Safiullin in the Second Round of the 2021 French Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday June 2nd, 2021 at approximately 5:00am EST.
Alexander Zverev is currently ranked number six in the ATP world rankings and has established himself as a top contender for the title here at the French Open 2021. After claiming the title at the Madrid Masters, he has announced himself as a real threat here in Paris and will be expecting to go deep into the draw. However, it did not go to plan early on here at Roland Garros, as he found himself staring down a two sets to love hold against Oscar Otte. He recovered well, but will have to be much better if he is to get much further here.
Roman Safiullin is ranked 181 in the world and came through the Qualifying Rounds here at the French Open. He made the most of his opportunity, defeating Carlos Taberner in four sets to reach this stage. The Russian is a good player, but enters this match as the huge underdog and will have to play the match of his life to get anything out of this match. This is only the second time that he has competed in the Main Draw of a Grand Slam, and it is unlikely that his stay here in Paris will last much longer.
This match will have only one outcome, and that is a straight sets win for Alexander Zverev. Despite his struggles in the First Round, I expect him to get it figured out and cruise to victory here. Alexander Zverev to win easily, booking his spot in the Third Round here at Roland Garros.
